I.FOUR CATEGORIES · TWELVE VALUES

Our values.

How we live out the gospel together — read top to bottom, or skim the headings. Every value is anchored in scripture and lived in community.

01Personal Connection02 VALUES
01.01

out of rows and into circles

We value relationships. We were not designed to be alone but connected with God and each other.

Acts 2:42–46 · Hebrews 10:22–25
We're not designed to do life alone.
01.02

A heart for all generations

We value all generations moving towards God as one body. Young people deserve a seat at the table not only tomorrow, but today. We partner with parents to disciple their children; there is no such thing as "other people's kids" in the Kingdom of God.

Deuteronomy 6:4–9 · Matthew 19:14
Nothing matters more to God than people, so nothing matters more to us.
02Authentic Community04 VALUES
02.01 · UNITY / DIVERSITY

We are better together

We value community that represents the Kingdom. Understanding that oneness does not mean sameness, we unite in celebrating the diversity that God has created.

Psalm 133:1 · 1 Corinthians 12:12–27
It's not just what we do that matters, but who we do life with that matters more.
02.02 · VULNERABILITY

It's ok to not be ok

It's ok to not be ok, it's not ok to pretend you're ok, it's not ok to stay stuck. We value authenticity, vulnerability, and transformation. Honesty in our relationships with God and people is essential for growth.

2 Corinthians 3:18 · Ephesians 4:15
We are only as sick as our secrets.
02.03

Joy lifts us & tears release us

We value authentic and passionate human expression. We serve a God who created us in His image. We laugh and cry together as we experience the pain and joy of God's gift of life.

Ecclesiastes 3:4 · Psalms 126:2 · John 11:35
02.04

We go there

We do not hold back from talking about difficult subjects and relating to people in our world. Tackling tangible, real world concepts in creative and relatable ways is imperative to reaching people where they are.

Ephesians 5:16 · 1 Corinthians 9:19–23
When leaders get real, it creates a safe place for people to be real.
03Tangible Impact03 VALUES
03.01 · COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION

If we were gone, would we be missed?

We value making a difference in our community, schools, businesses, and government. Through partnerships and collaboration, we want to see our city and world transformed for the glory of God.

Matthew 25:35–40 · Galatians 5:14
03.02

Because it's worth it

We value generosity. We relentlessly invest our time, energy, and resources into the things that matter to God.

Malachi 3:10 · Luke 6:38 · 2 Corinthians 9:6–8
03.03 · JUSTICE

Right things for the right reasons

We value making choices that are founded in God's Word and led by the Holy Spirit, even when it is difficult or culturally unpopular.

Mark 3:1–6 · Luke 6:32–36
04Healthy Growth03 VALUES
04.01 · MENTAL / PHYSICAL HEALTH

God intended us to live healthy lives

We are committed to spiritual, mental, and physical healing. Through counseling, support groups, fitness classes, and personal training, we see God transforming the brokenness in our lives.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 · 3 John 2
Churches don't grow — people and leaders do.
04.02 · SPIRITUAL DISCIPLESHIP

We pray

We value conversations with God, giving Him our undivided attention. Beyond merely asking and receiving, prayer guides and transforms the heart and life of our church.

Ephesians 6:18 · 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18
04.03

We study & apply the Bible

The Holy Spirit reveals God's Word to us and empowers us to live it out.

Hebrews 4:12 · 2 Timothy 3:16–17 · James 1:22–25
II.SEVEN STATEMENTS · OUR CREED

Our beliefs.

The doctrine that anchors our church. Read it as a creed — each statement standing on its own.

  1. I.GOD

    God

We believe in a personal God, creator of heaven and earth, who has revealed Himself as one God existing as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; each distinct yet of one essence.

  2. II.SON

    Son

We believe Jesus Christ to be the virgin-born Son of God who lived in flesh, died for the sins of the world, was buried, rose again, ascended to the Father, and will return in power and glory according to the Scriptures.

  3. III.HOLY SPIRIT

    Holy Spirit

We believe God as the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin and unrighteousness, works in the life of each believer to produce godly character and demonstrates Himself in the life of the church through the use of all the biblical gifts of the Spirit given to each believer to carry out the mission of the kingdom of God.

  4. IV.SALVATION OF MAN

    Salvation of Man

We believe that man was originally created in the image of God. Through disobedience and selfishness, he experienced both physical and spiritual death. The death of Jesus Christ was the final and complete sacrifice for the sins of humanity. Salvation is obtained by grace through faith in Him. All who repent of their sins and receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord are born again and regenerated by the Holy Spirit as children of God.

  5. V.THE BIBLE

    The Bible

We believe in the accuracy, truth, authority, and power of the Holy Scriptures as the Word of God. It is truth provided for the believer as a tool to know God's heart and way.

  6. VI.THE CHURCH

    The Church

We believe that those who have placed their faith in Christ are knit together in one body, the Church. To remain healthy, the body's members must work together, with each part contributing to each other's growth and maturity. Since the Church represents Jesus Christ to the world, God works through the Church to reconcile humanity to Himself and be His demonstration of love to the world He came to save.

  7. VII.MARRIAGE

    Marriage

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.

We believe the term "marriage" has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.

We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

III.FOUR PRACTICES · HOW WE GATHER

Our gatherings.

  1. 01

    Worship

We believe worship looks different for everyone. There is freedom to raise your hands, sit, kneel, and express your love to God in a variety of ways.

  2. 02

    Communion

We believe communion is an opportunity for personal reflection as we remember Jesus' death on the cross for us. We take communion monthly as a family but it is always available individually in the back of the auditorium.

  3. 03

    Baptism

We believe water baptism is an outward expression of an inward change that has occurred in the life of the Christ follower. We offer opportunities to be baptized regularly throughout the year.

  4. 04

    Gifts of the Spirit

We believe the gifts of the Spirit are for the church today and are a great addition to our gatherings when presented in an orderly manner. During weekend services, pastors are available in the front row to assist you in the discernment of the use of the gifts.

A NOTE ON SCOPE

This Statement of Beliefs does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.

For purposes of Pure Heart Church's faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Sr. Staff is Pure Heart Church's final interpretive authority on the Bible's meaning and application.
